6.1. Choosing The Right Cassette Player
A good Cassette Player doesn't have to be expensive. Basically, it must have the following:
· Separate bass and treble control
· Great FM Sensitivity – the lower the dBf, the better
· Dolby Noise Reduction
· Loudness control or Mega Bass
· About 20 watts RMS power
· FWD/REW
· Auto Reverse
· Preamp Output (only required if you would like to add equalizers or amplifiers to it)
You should be able to get all the for under $100
Don't bother to change your factory receiver if it has all or most of these functions.
It may be worth it to spend a few extra $$$ for a deck with
· Auto Music Search - fast forwards to the beginning of the next song or whichever song you choose.
· Blank Skip - Automatically fast forwards to long periods of silence.
· AUX input - A 1/8’ stereo mini plug in the front will be very useful if you already have a portable CD or MD player that you would like to use in the car.
The alternative would be to use a cassette adapter that goes in as a regular cassette with a wire coming out of it.
