I started installing my own stereo equipments because I ran out of money. I started doing some custom re-wiring in my car because, being a newspaper delivery man, everything had to be removable.
Sometimes the Sunday paper was so thick, I barely had any room for my coffee which I desperately needed on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
It wasn’t until I started to understand the concept of car stereo installation that I realized that I even paid for things I didn’t have to buy
It was so easy.
I couldn’t believe I paid to have it done. I could’ve saved a lot of money.
Of course you can do it yourself.
Let me show you how easy it is:
- There are about 12 wires in the back of a receiver, 8 of which are speaker wires.
- The other 4 are very easy to figure out
- One is ground (usually black)
- One is constant 12v (usually yellow) - that's for your preset stations and clock.
- One is switched 12v (usually red) - that's to turn the radio off when the car is not on.
- One is for the power antenna (switched on and off by the radio - usually blue) - that's used as a remote for the power antenna if you have one. it's also used to turn your amplifiers and equalizer on and off.
- There are 2 wires for each speaker
- 3 wires for the amplifier
- 12 volts from the battery.
- Ground - screws to the chassis of the car.
- remote - the remote wire from the rario
- 3 wires for the equalizer - same as above
- If you can connect 2 VCRs together, you should have no problem connecting everything together in your car stereo
- Besides, I will give you all the tips you need to help you along the way.
- The hardest part is taking the car apart and running the wires neatly. Any patient man - or woman - can do that.
